About
This blog has been brewing in my head for a while now…it is now open to everyone.
The day I wrote the piece on delegation on my other blog, I knew it didn’t fit there. Nor did a lot of other thoughts that I wanted to convert into blog posts.
This blog gets some validation from a more famous blog on people management: RandsInRepose by Michael Lopp. I will not call it inspiration since I already had the idea in mind before I discovered this blog (and Michael’s delicious book on the same topic: Managing Humans). However, that blog was an affirmation that my idea was not entirely crazy.
This blog is different from Michael’s blog in two very distinct areas:
1. The writing: I am no Lopp. All I can say in my defense is that I try. Also, Michael has a much more varied experience. All this is not to compare myself to Michael. Just setting expectations is all.
2. Michael writes about his work in product companies. I work with a completely different beast altogether. Its called a services company (yes there has been only one company so far.) Though both product and services companies make software, that is where the similarity ends. People working in product companies look down upon their counter-parts in the services companies. That is as much insecurity as you can drill out of me !
So, let the games begin. I wish to copy the delegation piece from my other blog here to start things (I am lazy!).
Lets see how things go from there.
P.S: The title of the blog is a reference to the general feeling among the IT services community that managers hardly do any work.
